Marriage counseling with Paul Zohav focuses on practical communication tools couples can use immediately. Rather than spending sessions analysing the past, you learn how to speak clearly, listen deeply, and resolve conflict with mutual honor and respect. Most couples leave session one with skills they use the same evening.
The first session lasts 90 minutes to 2 hours. Paul uses two assessments with every new couple: the Love Languages quiz (5lovelanguages.com) and the personality type assessment at 16personalities.com. Understanding how each partner gives and receives love, and how each processes the world differently, is the foundation of everything that follows. Couples receive a Welcome Kit at the start of their work together.
Paul teaches proprietary communication frameworks developed over 30 years of practice. These include the Yes-And Skill (shifting from reacting to responding), the Bubble Boundary (protecting what belongs in a marriage and keeping out what does not), the When-and-Wonder method (raising any concern safely without accusation), the Seems/Tends To language (avoiding the “truth trap” that kills listening), and the Get To vs. Got To reframe (moving from obligation to opportunity in how couples talk about their life together). These are not generic therapy exercises. They are practical tools couples use immediately.
Paul does not bill insurance directly. Sessions are private pay. Many couples find that working outside the insurance system gives them greater privacy, more flexible scheduling, and a counselor who is focused entirely on their relationship rather than on insurance-approved diagnoses. Payment is handled through a secure Stripe checkout at booking.
Paul is based in Tucson, Arizona. He offers in-person sessions in Tucson and on Thursdays in Casa Grande and Chandler. Via Zoom, he works with couples anywhere in the United States. If you are outside Arizona and looking for virtual marriage counseling, you can book a free 30-minute discovery call to get started.
