Most couples can talk. Very few couples know how to communicate.
There is a difference between talking at each other and actually being heard. Between arguing about the dishes and addressing what the dishes are really about. Between surviving a marriage and building one worth staying in.
Paul Zohav M.Ed. has been a couples coach in Tucson for over 30 years. He works with couples who are in crisis and couples who are simply ready to stop repeating the same patterns.
Couples coaching with Paul is not about sitting in silence while someone takes notes. It is practical, skills-based work that gives couples tools they use immediately.
Paul works with couples at every stage of their relationship, including:
No issue is too early to address and no marriage is too far gone to work on.
Paul has developed a set of proprietary communication frameworks over 30 years of working with couples. These are not generic exercises. They are practical tools designed to change how couples speak to each other, starting in the first session.
These tools are taught in session and used immediately. Most couples notice a real shift within 3 to 5 sessions.

When introduced to Paul, my wife and I were just trying to get to the point where we would be able to be civil at future functions when it came to the kids. After learning new communication skills, we are headed towards a life neither of us thought possible.Posted on Google Kristen SandersTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My husband and I came to Paul for pre-marital counseling a few years ago. He’s very kind and did a good job of giving us ideas for communicating more effectively with each other. He also had great ideas for activities we could do to maintain our closeness. My husband and I are still happily married, so I’d say Paul did a great job with us!Posted on Google Hannah PhillipsTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My husband and I worked with Paul prior to our marriage (premarital counseling). We enjoyed our sessions and felt we learned quite a bit from Paul. Specifically he helped us configure better communication methods that worked well for our relationship. We have recommended him to many friends and will continue to do so. We've been married 5 years so far with no intentions to change that! Thanks Paul!Posted on Google Aubrey Lynn MillerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My husband and I began seeing Paul before we were married, and continued during some of the most challenging seasons of our early marriage. While we’re still growing and working through things, Paul gave us the tools to navigate conflict with mutual respect and care. He helped us learn how to truly listen, reflect, and communicate in ways that strengthen our connection rather than damage it. What stood out most was Paul’s patience, wisdom, insight, and generosity. He creates a space that feels safe and grounded, and I always felt heard and seen, sometimes more than I even knew I needed. Our time with him has not only benefited our relationship, but has helped me grow into a more confident, self-respecting version of myself. When I first started meeting with Paul, I felt scared, insecure, and unsure of what was “wrong” with me. Now, I feel hopeful and equipped to live with more joy and freedom. I’m deeply grateful for the role he’s played in our journey.Posted on Google O. Daniel RaineTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Paul did a good job mediating and helping us better communicate. This is not, necessarily, couples therapy. Rather, it is communication coaching. 4 years later, we still use some of the tools given.Posted on Google Vellia SpencerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We'd been having the same argument over and over and could not get past it. Meeting with Paul got us past our communication barrier. Paul sees couples in person at his Tucson office and on Thursdays in Casa Grande and Chandler. For couples outside Arizona or who prefer the flexibility of working from home, sessions are available via Zoom anywhere in the US.
Online couples coaching with Paul is just as structured, focused, and effective as in-person. The only difference is where you sit.
Couples therapy is typically conducted by a licensed therapist working within a clinical mental health framework. Couples coaching focuses on communication skills, practical tools, and shifting relationship patterns. Paul Zohav M.Ed. brings a counseling background with an M.Ed. from the University of Virginia and over 30 years of hands-on experience coaching couples. His approach combines the depth of a therapeutic background with the practical, action-focused nature of coaching.
Most couples who do the work consistently notice a real shift within 3 to 5 sessions. The tools Paul teaches are designed to be used immediately, not after months of gradual progress. That said, couples dealing with long-standing patterns or significant trust issues may need more time. The pace is always determined by the couple, not by a fixed program.
Yes. Constant fighting is almost always a communication problem, not a compatibility problem. Paul has worked with couples who had been locked in the same cycle for years and helped them break it by learning a different way of speaking to each other. The Yes-And Skill and the When-and-Wonder method alone have de-escalated arguments in couples who had been fighting for decades.
Both partners being present and willing makes the process significantly more effective. That said, Paul has worked with situations where one partner is more hesitant than the other. A free 30-minute discovery call is a low-commitment way for a reluctant partner to ask questions and decide for themselves.
Yes. Paul offers couples coaching via Zoom for couples anywhere in the United States. Sessions are private, secure, and just as effective as meeting in person. Many couples prefer the flexibility of connecting from home, especially those with young children or demanding schedules.
